Many parents dread the time of year when the clocks go back or forward. Just as their little toddler finds their sleep pattern, bang...the clocks change!!!
Fear not!!!!!!
Start a few days before the clocks move to create change by the time that 2am Sunday clock moves in one or other direction!!
Lets say your little one goes to bed at 6.45pm, approximately THREE days before the clocks change you are going to either extend or reduce your child's bed-time routine. Therefore, in October, your child will go to bed on Saturday at approximately 7.45pm but on Sunday they would return to 6.45pm.
In March, your child should have gone to bed the night of the change at 5.45pm but the night after it would have returned to 6.45pm.
When clocks go back in the AUTUMN, you are going EXTEND your child's bed-time by increasing bathtime or storytime by approx 15-20 minutes each day. LATER TO BED
When clocks go forward in SPRING, you are going to REDUCE your child's bed-time by decreasing bathtime or storytime by approx by 15-20 minutes each day. EARLIER TO BED
The night of the clock change, your child would need to be going to bed an hour LATER in AUTUMN and an hour EARLIER in SPRING to their usual routine.
Whatever happens, remain calm in the knowledge it is a fixable option so please don't worry.
